A MEMORABLE MOMENT IN MY LIFE!
It was festival time. The college was buzzing with activity. The air was saturated with excitement and competitiveness. The spirits of the students were so high that it could infest even the dullest and laziest of the sloth bears and compel it to start moving to the groove. It surely was celebration time. Students had only one thing in their mind – “CARPE DIEM” .It was spring spree 09.
Based on the participation levels, students could be classified into 3 categories – The Winners, The indefatigable participants i.e. “never say die but never win either” type and the “active onlookers”. I belonged to the last category or at least that is where I believed I belong. This is due to the fact that my confidence level is not enough to put me in the first category and second category is not meant for people like me who are resilient to losing.
Then entered into my life my inspiration, my guide, my confidence – The Alchemist. I never knew that Alchemists are so magical that even a book with the name can transform the base level thinking. This book taught me a simple concept – “Do what your heart says”. I applied this simple concept and decided to participate in the duet singing competition. I asked 2 friends of mine to sing with me and both of them rejected. Just when I was about to give up hopes , a new door of opportunity opened up. The rules of duet singing changed. Now a girl-girl duet was allowed and no one could have been happier about this than I was. The first Girl I asked was more than ready to sing with me. We got together and practiced.
Finally, The day of competition had arrived, accompanied by the Big villain in the story of my life “The Sore throat”. I was so sure that I wanted to participate that I did not let this vile rival of mine overwhelm me on “THE” day.
The time had finally arrived. My partner and I went on to the stage. I closed my eyes and got so involved in singing that I never even realized how those precious 4 minutes passed.
After a long wait, the results were going to be declared. At this point of time, winning had become a matter of primary importance to me because I had to prove to the guys who had refrained from singing with me that they had missed a wonderful opportunity .An amalgam of my desire, will to win , the beginner’s luck and my partners’ beautiful voice fetched us the first prize. This was a moment of triumph, an event that I would remember for a life time.
